We should live our life with purpose and have a deep and assured knowing that we are meant to achieve greatness with our life. We must always remember and keep in mind that God does not create anything without a plan and purpose behind it. We must believe in ourselves as God believes in us and when we do nothing shall be impossible to us. It is easy to tell someone that they are meant to achieve great things in life, but if they don't believe it for themselves then the victory has already been taken away from them. We must see our life as meaningful and full of potential. We must let go of our past failures, setbacks and shortfalls and know that a new beginning is always available with God. (Jeremiah 1:4-5) (Psalm 139:14-18) (Matthew 17:20)
For me it has never been difficult to believe that greatness was within me. Confidence in myself was never lacking, but when I became paralyzed in a boating accident in 1996, all my confidence and assurance of greatness was taken away in a split second. My secured and sure future was completely changed in that moment and all I knew soon after that accident was uncertainty. I became uncertain of my ability and of my future. I didn't know how my life would be beneficial to myself and to others. Thankfully all of that changed when Jesus entered into my life. Hope was restored. Confidence was returned. My future was eternally secured and a gift of encouragement was imparted into my life that was to be used to encourage and inspire others around the world to believe in themselves again as God believes in them. (John 15:5) (Isaiah 40:28-31)
We must nurture a belief that we are not our past. We are not defined by our failures and setbacks. We can however use our past for our benefit today and in our tomorrow's to come. The lessons we learned that made us better, wiser and stronger serve a purpose to not repeat the past, but become better because of it. What I have learned about overcoming is that just as a plant needs water to survive so to our life needs to receive nourishment. We must have a deep knowing that we are worthy and well able to make a difference in our own life and in the lives of others. (2 Corinthians 5:17) (Jeremiah 1:6-9) (Ezekiel 18:30-32)
No matter what you have gone through; no matter your failures or setbacks, no matter your trials and tribulations, you can rise up again. You can make a difference in this world. You can teach what you have learned, you can encourage others in their discouragement, you can inspire someone else to know that a new beginning is always possible with God. Using your life to make a difference in the lives of others will leave a legacy that will live on long after you are gone. Believe in yourself. Nurture the gifts within you. Try again even if you don't feel like it. When you do you will see your life reach heights you never thought possible. I know this truth because I try my best to do it each and every day. (Ezekiel 11:19-20) (Psalm 103:10-14)

Message On The Power Of Words
I have been praying about what message to write and I felt the Lord impressing upon my heart to write a message concerning the words that we speak out of our mouth. Many times we say things without first thinking about them and pay a price for doing so. We need to remember that the words that we say out of our mouths do take on a life of themselves and can either bless or curse us. I hope you'll be challenged by this message that will show you from God's Word how to be careful of the words that you speak and show you to only speak positive and overcoming words of Victory.
The Bible declares in Proverbs 6:2, "Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth..." The word snared is defined in the dictionary as, "Something that serves to entangle the unwary." Many times we get caught unaware and speak things in haste that we soon regret. It is very important that we remember and always keep in mind that our words have great power to either create or destroy. We are created in the image of God and just as He has created all things by speaking them into existence, so it is with us because we are an extension of Him. (James 3:10) (John 1:1-4) (Genesis 1:26)
When we feel down and discouraged and articulate our feelings with our words, then we are giving life to that negative situation to continue on in making us feel like defeated persons. The Bible says let the weak Say they are strong. We are not to give in to negative situations by speaking words of defeat, but rather we are to prophesy the situation to be the best it can be even in the midst of the storm. Darkness must dispense once Light has entered into a room and it is the same thing concerning a negative situation, which is overcome by positive and overcoming words of authority. (Ezekiel 37:4-10) (Joel 3:10) (1 John 2:14-17) (Revelation 12:11)
The Bible tells us that our tongue even though is a small member of our whole body, has the power to direct where our life will take us, as the Bible illustrates in James 3:4-5, "A tiny rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot wants it to go, even though the winds are strong. So also, the tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do..." When we lose control of our tongue and don't choose our words wisely, then our life is going to be affected and taken off course, just as a ship is steered off course by the controlling of the helm wheel. (Proverbs 18:21)
God tells us that He lays before us life and death, blessing and cursing, and He tells us to choose life. It is all up to us if we become the people God wants us to be because He has given us a free will to either obey His word and live an abundant and overcoming life, or do things our way and simply exist in a life of mediocrity. (Deuteronomy 30:19) (Proverbs 3:5-12)
The Lord has given many warnings throughout the Bible that tells us our words play a very important part of our life. Jesus declares in Matthew 12:37, "By your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned." God has not hidden His commandments from us, but has made them clearly known throughout His Word because God's love is that great and He does not want us to fall into the traps of the enemy. We are to be alert and recognize the tricks of the devil and overcome them with the authoritative words of our mouth. (Psalm 119:11-12) (Proverbs 6:20-23)
Just because we have made mistakes in the past does not mean that it is too late to start afresh. Our God freely offers second chances to those who have made mistakes. We should always be confident and know that Christ is able to cleanse our past and create within us a new heart and life that is completely the opposite of the life that we once lived in darkness. I encourage you to call upon Him today if you are having trouble controlling your words and ask the Lord to create within you a new heart where negativity will cease to exist. God is able to change you in ways you never thought possible, so never get discouraged in calling on the name of the Lord. (Isaiah 1:18) (2 Corinthians 5:17) (Isaiah 55:6-7)
The next time you are tempted to speak negative words against someone else or even against a situation in your life, I challenge you to remember what the Bible says concerning the tongue and know that your words have great power to bless or curse, to renew a friendship or destroy a friendship. Your words can heal your situation or make it much worse. The choice is up to us on how we handle every situation in our lives. Let us handle them God's way and control the negative words that we are tempted to say when things are not going as planned. Only then will we be the people God wishes for His children to be and receive the blessings of obeying His Word. (Joshua 1:8) (Proverbs 15:1) (Isaiah 1:19-20)

Proverbs 15:1-4 “A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, Keeping watch on the evil and the good. A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.”
Matthew 12:35-37 Jesus declares, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
James 3:10-12 “Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.”
Proverbs 18:4-7 “The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; The wellspring of wisdom is a flowing brook. It is not good to show partiality to the wicked, Or to overthrow the righteous in judgment. A fool’s lips enter into contention, And his mouth calls for blows. A fool’s mouth is his destruction, And his lips are the snare of his soul.”

The Shortness Of Time
We should always keep in the back of our minds the brevity of life. Life itself is so very fragile. We never know when our time on Earth will come to an end. We never know when our loved ones will be taken away from us or when we will be taken away from them and that is all the more reason that we should appreciate, relish and make positive and effective use of the time that we do have with one another. We should never take our loved ones for granted and forget the blessing of having their presence in our life. Simply imagining not having them around us should cause us to be thankful that we do have them in our life. Sometimes we get angry, upset or irritated with those that we love the most and instead of quickly mending fences and becoming one again, we allow that strife to bring division, discord and disconnection. We shouldn't allow our humanly squabbles to make us forget the love that we share. We should be quick to appreciate the fragility of time and become one again with those who mean so much to us.
Be encouraged to see that time on Earth is very limited when compared to the forever of Eternity. We only have a short time to love, laugh and be merry with one another so let us use that time to our benefit and recognize how much we have to be thankful for. Without our family and friends life would be meaningless. The love that we hold with one another is greater than the greatest of riches. Our relationships are priceless gifts that need to be nurtured, cherished and upheld. We must invest wisely in the lives of those who mean the most to us and recognize that just as we would like for them to be there for us, we must be there for them just the same. We can't be selfish in our relationships. We can't dictate how or when we'll spend time together. It has to be on equal ground and we must be there for them just as they are there for us.
I encourage you again to think on the shortness of time. Think on your loved ones and if there is anything lacking do all that you can to fill that need. I firmly believe that love implied is not the same as love shown. Speak your love, show your love and make sure that the recipient knows exactly how you feel about them. Recognize how much you would miss them if they were gone from your life and do all that you can to show your appreciation that they are still here for you. I believe that recognizing our blessings is just as important as having our blessings.
